I've never had somebody call me to tell me they sent me an email to tell me that they came into the office to leave me a message telling me that they'd just dropped off something for me that I don't particularly need.
At least, not within the space of about two hours, anyway.

And either it was very valuable or very embarrassing. Or your friend has too much time on his/her hands.
None of the above, I'm afraid. The person in question wasn't a friend, exactly - it was information that I didn't, strictly speaking, actually need, and she wasn't, strictly speaking actually supposed to give it to me.
Oh well.
Strictly speaking, they're an idiot.
